Holiday Paper Lantern DIY

Halloween is tomorrow so it means the Holidays are just around the corner…

I’ve been lacking inspiration to make anything lately but I finally was able to make something the other day. I’ve been pretty excited for the holidays so I made a winter themed lantern.

Materials:

  • Cardstock paper (I used the 110lbs one)
  • Craft Blade/knife (I used a Silhouette machine to help cut this but a blade or scissors will work just fine as well)
  • Scissors
  • Clear plastic bags or sheet protectors
  • Tape or glue
  • Ruler
  • LED light (optional)
  • Download this PDF

First I cut out all the shapes. In the PDF, I’ve included a blank one so you could create your own design as well. You’ll need to print out either page 1 or page 2 twice.

Then I folded all the dotted lines. (The one I used in the photo actually doesn’t have the dotted lines but I’ve included them in the PDF so it’s easier to work with)

Then, I cut the plastic bags so that it will fit behind one panel/frame and taped them onto the back. Once that’s done, the trapezoid shaped areas that I folded before could now be taped onto the corresponding sides. I only taped one of the sides for the bottom so that it could be opened later.

I also bought a led candle to place it into the paper lantern and now I’m ready to decorate my room for the holidays.

Are you as excited for the holidays as I am?
