Cosmetic Packaging to Piggy Bank DIY

I’m not sure if it’s just me do you seem to collect a lot of spare change in your wallet until it’s too chubby to close?

The spare change seem to always collect in my wallet and I have a habit of not using the coins. I have a few piggy banks and they’ve filled up with coins lol. I don’t like going to change the coins to cash until I have a lot of them. So I’ve repurposed a cosmetic packaging into a little mini piggy bank to hold more spare coins.

Materials I used:

  • 1 cosmetic packaging box
  • Fabric
  • Tape
  • Scissors

I placed the packaging flat on the table and drew in the slot (make sure it’s big enough to fit a quarter) that I wanted.

Once I cut the coin slot, I taped the end of the box and around the slot.

You’ve probably seen this fabric from a previous DIY. Since I had a lot of the fabric, I used it again. I used double tape to tape the fabric onto the box starting with the end where the slot needs to be. Simply cut the fabric exactly where the slot is before wrapping the entire box with the fabric.

I left the other end so that I could open it to retrieve my coins when needed.

Time to fill up the box with spare change.

Where do you like to keep your coins?
