The other day I went to Hongdae and Dongdaemun for a visit. There were a lot of shopping areas in Hongdae and a lot of them were small clothing or accessory shops. We also paid a visit to the university of which it’s named and past by more cute shops along the way.
Hongdae
My sole purpose of being in Hongdae though is for the Hello Kitty Cafe. Before we stopped at the cafe, I also tried some street food which was super good.
Hello Kitty Cafe
The Hello Kitty Cafe was very cute and very pink. It seems to be mainly a tourist attraction since I didn’t see much locals when I was there. Hello Kitty’s face was on everything imaginable as soon as we stepped foot into the property. There were Hello Kitty dolls and statues starting at the front door and there was a room dedicated to her upstairs as well.
The food of course also had Hello Kitty on it. The waffle we ordered was Hello Kitty shaped and the cup of latte had her face floating on top of it. I wasn’t expecting much for the taste but it was surprising good.
The interior had Hello Kitty paintings and more of her dolls. Even the chairs and furniture featured her giant bow. I, of course, had to do some shameless selfie like the tourist that I am LOL.
Dongdaemun and the DDP LED Rose Garden
After that we left for Dongdaemun to see the LED flowers near the Dongdaemun Design Plaza. The flowers didn’t turn on until 7 so we had some time to look around. We look around the design shops and there were quite some unique items.
The scenery here at night was quite beautiful. The building was a very unique dome like structure that was surrounded by tall buildings. And of course while we wait for the flowers, we had more food to try; I’m really going to gain weight from this trip haha
We then headed over to the DDP LED Rose Garden once it was time for it to turn on. The flowers were pretty but it was just too cold that night to stay longer for more pictures.
I’ve been traveling a lot so I haven’t been able to post often but I’ll try to update again soon.
It’s almost Halloween here. Are you guys ready for Halloween?
Awww the Hongdae area is so vibrant. And the Hello Kitty café is so cute, I did a selfie too when I was there 😉 What a cool trip!

I love Korea! I went during winter 2 years ago and it was freezing cold; I’d love to visit again during summer time. The exterior of the Hello Kitty cafe looks different from yours. Not sure if they renovated it. Hope you have an amazing time there. Remember to load up on beauty and fashion goodies, not to mention try their sumptuous food.

It didn’t but I finally got the time to reply to the comments. The cafe was really cute and I thought the lights would be nothing special but it was really unique.

Haha I know, it was a very lovely sight. I believe the exhibition will be there for a while but on some sites it says it’ll be there until February.
